IFPA Recognizes Outstanding Contributions to Fighting Insurance Fraud in PA at Annual Conference

The Pennsylvania Insurance Fraud Prevention Authority (IFPA) and the Pennsylvania Chapters of the International Association of Special Investigation Units (IASIU) have recognized the efforts of two individuals for their roles in effectively fighting insurance fraud in Pennsylvania. The awards, including a Lifetime Achievement Award and a Prosecutor of the Year Award, were presented by IFPA Executive Director Christopher Sloan.

Joan Dockery was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of her remarkable 25-year journey with IFPA. Starting as a secretary in 1999 and rising to her current position as Associate Executive Director, Joan has been a driving force behind IFPA’s growth and its effective initiatives in combating insurance fraud in Pennsylvania. She has been instrumental in shaping the organization’s operations, achievements and ongoing success. “Simply put, Joan makes it (IFPA) run,” Sloan summarized.

Bucks County Deputy District Attorney, Marc Furber, was recognized with the Prosecutor of the Year Award for the incredible impact he has had on the fight against insurance fraud by successfully investigating and prosecuting cases since joining the county’s DA’s office in 2000 and serving as the Chief of the Insurance Fraud Division since 2017. “Marc’s commitment to upholding the law and pursuing justice is unwavering,” stated Sloan.

“We are proud to honor both Joan Dockery and Marc Furber for their exceptional contributions to fighting insurance fraud,” Sloan commented on behalf of the IFPA and IASIU. “Their dedication and hard work over their careers have made a significant impact on our efforts to combat fraud in Pennsylvania.” The awards were presented at the annual, statewide Pennsylvania Insurance Fraud Conference, hosted by the IFPA and IASIU in April at the Hershey Lodge & Convention Center in Hershey, PA. Now in its 16th year, they accommodated roughly 350 attendees, 24 expert presenters and 17 vendors for two days of education and networking at the 2024 event.
