The Pennsylvania Insurance Fraud Prevention Authority (IFPA) and the Pennsylvania Chapters of the International Association of Special Investigation Units (IASIU) have recognized the efforts of many individuals for their roles in effectively fighting insurance fraud in Pennsylvania at their annual conference. The awards, including an Investigator of the Year Award and an Investigation of the Year Award, were presented by IFPA Executive Director Christopher Sloan.
Investigator of the Year: Special Agent Jonathan Woodward
Special Agent Jonathan Woodward was recognized with the Investigator of the Year Award for his exceptional dedication in combating insurance fraud. “While with the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General Insurance Fraud Section, Woodward’s pivotal role in the Tyree Goldsmith case, marked by relentless commitment and tenacity, earned him a position as a Federal ATF Task Force Officer,” Sloan said.
Investigation of the Year Award
The Investigation of the Year Award was presented to a team of fraud fighters for dismantling a sophisticated Pennsylvania-based interstate luxury vehicle title-washing scheme. Sloan said, “This intricate case showcased outstanding collaboration among the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General, PA State Police, Berks County Detectives, Lehigh County Detectives, NYPD, Miami Police Department Detectives, and the Miami-Dade Auto Theft Unit — resulting in charges against 13 individuals, including several extraditions from Mexico.”
