Cathy Gicker or “Gick,” as she is known in the investigative insurance industry, is a legend. On Thursday, March 31, 2022 Gicker was recognized with a Lifetime Achievement Award by the Pennsylvania Insurance Fraud Prevention Authority.

“Cathy Gicker has set a standard for professional excellence in the investigative insurance industry that made us all better investigators,” said Christopher Sloan, executive director, Pennsylvania Insurance Fraud Prevention Authority. “Few people have had the kind of lasting influence and career achievement as Gick has had.”

Gicker started her career with Allstate in 1975 as a Bodily Injury Telephone Claim Handler. She held numerous supervisory roles at Allstate and was promoted to the role of Public Affairs Division Manager where she was responsible for Allstate Foundation grants and promoting Allstate in the community.

But Gicker made her biggest contribution to the insurance industry in the Special Investigative Unit (SIU). Beginning in 1990 and spanning 31 years in the field, Gicker was involved in the International Association of Special Investigative Units, Claims Litigation Management, and The Coalition against Insurance Fraud. “Cathy has been a friend and mentor to so many of us in the industry,” continued Sloan. “Whether she was training investigators or taking a leadership role in our industry groups, Cathy has made a huge difference in our profession.” Gicker is also a lifetime IASIU national and local chapter member. She retired in 2021.
